Power restored to northeast Houston apartment complex

Power was restored to a northeast Houston apartment complex Thursday.

Almost 200 apartment residents were left without power after a transformer blew.

The power had been out at the Settegast Village Heights apartments on North Wayside since noon Wednesday.

Residents said a transformer blew out, leaving half of the complex without power.

According to the residents, management isn't talking to them. They called CenterPoint Energy, but they said the company said the problem is on the complex's end.

A number of the residents are elderly and need electricity to run their respirators or oxygen machines. One elderly woman was hospitalized.

Residents said their food and medicine is going bad.

The apartment complex did sent out an electrical contractor Wednesday evening who did some work, but residents said it stopped after they heard another loud boom.
